Historic Contest at Fernleigh Lawn Bowling Club

West Hartford's Fernleigh Lawn Bowling Club members lined the club's porch to witness an unprecedented event in the club's 89 year history. On August 23, the club Singles Championship competition was held on the green at 35 Lancaster Road.

While women have competed equally with male members since 1995, this is the first year two women have reached the top tier to play for the coveted trophy.

The exciting match between Ellen Boyne and Sue Hart was won by Boyne rolling a perfect bowl for a narrow margin of victory. Both women are long-time members of Fernleigh and club friends applauded their efforts throughout the match.
