NWC student-athlete to rep Conn. at national leadership summit

WEST HARTFORD - Northwest Catholic senior Sadie Martinez of Hartford has been selected as the only representative from Connecticut for the inaugural First Tee Outstanding Participant Leadership Summit. She and 31 others from across the country will participate in the educational event February 28th- March 2 in Nashville, Tenn.

Sadie was selected based on her academic achievement, community service, chapter involvement with The First Tee of Connecticut, leadership, essay responses and letters of recommendation. She has been a member of The First Tee of Connecticut since she was 7. She is also a member of the NWC Girls' Golf Team.

"I'm excited to be part of this inaugural program," Sadie said. "I'm looking forward to gaining new leadership skills and learning from people from across the country. I'm also excited to take the skills I learn back to Connecticut to benefit my community and First Tee."

"Connecticut could not have a better individual to represent the state," said NWC Athletic Director Matthew Martorelli '03. "Sadie has worked extremely hard both in the classroom and in the community over the past four years and that work has paid off."

This is the inaugural year for First Tee Outstanding Participant Summit and will be held in conjunction with The First Tee Network Meeting, a biennial conference that will attract more than 500 chapter representatives of The First Tee chapters from throughout the country.

Since 1961, Northwest Catholic's mission has been to educate the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and soul. Enrollment for the Class of '17 is now under way, and prospective students are invited to attend an Information Session at the school on Feb. 7 at 7pm.
