West Hartford residents wins Fulbright award

 (Hartford) – Congressman John B. Larson congratulated four local individuals for receiving 2012-2013 Fulbright awards. The prestigious Fulbright award, given to individuals to study, lecture, teach or conduct research abroad, is given to those who not only achieve academically or professionally, but display leadership potential in their field.

 

"This year Connecticut's first district is proud to boast individuals who have garnered national attention for their achievements in and out of the classroom," said Congressman Larson. "I want to congratulate each of them for their hard work and commitment, and wish them the best of luck as they continue to share their talents and ability across the globe."

 

Current recipients include:


Alexandra Dudziuk of Newington, divides her time between teaching English at Collegium Civitas in Warsaw and researching emerging trends in Poland's social policy, especially in the fields of migration and education. Dudziuk graduated from Georgetown University last May with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service.

 

Chotsani Dean of Windsor, currently in the Fulbright Teaching and Research Program affiliated with Banaras Hindu University, Faculty of Visual Arts, in Varanasi, India.

 

Adam Gamzon of West Hartford, currently participating in a postdoctoral fellowship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. Gamzon graduated from UMass Amherst with his Ph.D. in May 2012.

 

Meghan Hussey of Windsor Locks is currently in China studying special education and autism programs. Hussey graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012.
