Exploration Notice: Geophysical Surveys

The Metropolitan District and its consultant AECOM will be conducting tests on Talcott Road, New Park Avenue, Tolles Street, Oakwood Avenue and Brixton Road in July and August.

The South Hartford Conveyance Tunnel Project is being designed to reduce or eliminate sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) and combined sewer overflows (CSOs) to local water bodies. In preparation for this project, the MDC will be conducting geophysical surveys, which will assess the soil and rock formations in the area. The work will be conducted in streets and public rights-of-way. The work should be completed in each street over the course of one-to-two days, during normal business hours. Access to driveways may be affected for brief periods of time as measurement devices are temporarily placed on the streets.
This work has been coordinated with the Town of West Hartford and will start the week of July 23rd. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Brian McCarthy, the MDC Project Manager, at 860-278-7850, ext 3398 or Leo Martin, AECOM's Field Manager, at 781-462-8926 or 617-306-7439. After hours, you can call the MDC's Command Center at (860) 278-7850 ext. 3600.
