O'Brien named Principal at BL Companies

Julia P. O’Brien, Esq., LEED Green Associate, General Counsel, of West Hartford, has been named a Principal at BL Companies, Inc., an employee-owned, multi-disciplinary architecture, engineering, environmental and land surveying firm based in Meriden, Connecticut. As General Counsel, O’Brien provides the full range of legal services for BL Companies and its subsidiaries, including reviewing all professional services contracts; developing, implementing and maintaining contract and essential corporate documents; managing communications with insurance companies and outside legal counsel, managing all claims, overseeing risk management; overseeing the BL Companies Safety Committee and reviewing and negotiating all leases. According to Carolyn Stanworth, President and CEO, “Julia’s past contributions, dedication to BL Companies and demonstrated ability to positively influence the performance of the Company as a whole, and over the long-term, have earned her this opportunity.” The Principal Program was approved as part of the ESOP implementation in 2006 as an incentive program for people who have the proven ability - and the responsibility - to have a broader impact on the success of the entire Company for the benefit of all employee owners. O’Brien and seven others join the ranks of the Company’s current 27 Principals.
