SummerWood celebrates Assisted Living Week

West Hartford – In recognition of National Assisted Living Week, Hoffman SummerWood Community hosted a resident art exhibit and other special events. The theme was "Art for the Ages," chosen by the National Center for Assisted Living to to encourage creativity and participation. 

The Resident Art Exhibit featured photography, paintings, drawings, sculptures, needlework, and poetry. Among the participants, SummerWood resident, Mel Greenland, displayed a photograph of a stained glass light fixture he crafted, along with a New York Times editorial written about his artistic skill. Irene Rosenberg displayed a Canadian wool sweater she knitted and Bernice Veroff showcased several paintings and drawings. In addition to the exhibit, SummerWood scheduled other performing artists, a resident/staff variety show, and a culinary arts dinner in recognition of Assisted Living Week.

These type of events should arrange for the elderly who lived in such community, so that they can enjoy in a free environment..
