Loomis Chaffee students donate to STRIDE

For the second year in a row, the Loomis Chaffee Ski and Snowboard Club has provided both funds and coaching assistance to STRIDE Adaptive Sports at Ski Sundown in New Hartford.

Jean Sapula, a LC athletics trainer and ski club advisor,  oversees club assistance to STRIDE.

"We are very honored to help with STRIDE," said Sapula. "It's an amazing organization."

The Loomis Chaffee Ski Club officers, seniors Alex Buis, of Windsor, and John MacDonald, of West Hartford, organized a fundraiser, selling Loomis Chaffee belts that raised more than $200 for the group and assisted with STRIDE programs held at Sundown.

"The STRIDE lessons were inspiring to us," said Buis. "We were amazed at the children's motivation and how valuable STRIDE's commitment is to improving the children's skills."

STRIDE is an organization that annually provides adaptive sports and recreation lessons to children and individuals with special needs. STRIDE has been recognized for more than 25 years as one of the leading adaptive sport programs in the northeast.
