Watkinson students donate for water filtration system in Africa

HARTFORD >> The 6th grade from Watkinson School in Hartford, CT spent the year studying water around the world, and they wanted to support people in developing countries who lack access to clean water.  They voted the LifeStraw, a personal water filtration device, the most plausible solution to the world-wide water crisis and recently raised $1192.75.  The class simulated a water walk to experience an African walk to water on a small scale by filling jugs with water from a nearby river and walking around campus. They solicited sponsors to help support them. Some students even tested the LifeStraw by drinking some of the water themselves. Their donation will help to purchase 170 LifeStraws for people in need.
Watkinson School is Hartford's oldest independent day school serving students in grades 6-12/PG. Their next open house is July 10th at 6pm.
