Residents saddle up in fight against MS

Mike Marques (center) and his teammates Shaina Short (left) and Max Vargas (right) cycle the 100-mile course in the 2012 Bike MS: Red Thread Ride+Steelcase Ride in Windsor recently. More than 950 cyclists helped to raise approximately $435,000 toward a $500,000 goal.

Marques, captain of team Mike Marques Photography, is a commercial photographer. He also contracts with World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. Marques is a longtime supporter of the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, helping to raise awareness through a photo essay project capturing people throughout the state living their lives in the face of multiple sclerosis. To date, his team has raised more than $1,600. Funds raised ensure ongoing scientific research to find a cure for multiple sclerosis, a potentially debilitating disease.

Funds also provide for vital programs and services offered by the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter, to the more than 6,000 residents in the state living with multiple sclerosis.
