WHC-TV to receive National Excellence Award
West Hartford Community Television (WHC-TV) is the winner of the
Alliance for Community Media 2012 Overall Excellence Award for Public
Educational, and Government (PEG) Access in the category for centers
with budgets under $300,000.
WHC-TV will be recognized as best in the nation during the Hometown
Media Awards on Wednesday, August 1st as part of the Alliance for
Community Media Conference & Exhibition in Chicago, IL.
The Hometown Media Awards is local cable’s largest video awards
competition designed to honor and promote creative programs that address
community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge
commercial television formats and move viewers to experience television
in a different way.
“We’re so pleased that the Alliance for Community Media has recognized
the hard work, dedication and creativity of our staff, producers,
volunteers, members and board,” said Roger Goldbeck, President of the
WHC-TV Board of Directors.
Awardees are selected from more than 1,000 entrants representing more
than 3,000 PEG access television stations and cities from across the
nation.
In 2009, WHC-TV was recognized for overall excellence in the
Northeast Region.
“It is gratifying to see our innovative approach to keeping residents
connected via our channels, website, and social media received national
recognition,” said Jennifer Evans, WHC-TV’s Executive Director. “It’s a
tribute to this wonderfully engaged community and our talented team that
we were selected for this prestigious award.”
“Alliance for Community Media congratulates the winners of the 2012
Hometown Media Awards, and we look forward to honoring them throughout
the ACM Conference,” said ACM Executive Director Sylvia Strobel. “This
year’s Hometown Media Awards winners showcase the depth and diversity of
relevant local programming.”
