Dentist named president of the state dental association
SOUTHINGTON – West Hartford resident, Dr. Carolyn Malon, a general dentist in Farmington, was instated as President of the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA) during the CSDA House of Delegates annual session at Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino. Malon and her husband, Dr. Stephen Moran, are the owners of Family Dental Care of Farmington. Malon has practiced dentistry in New Britain and in Farmington for more than 25 years. Malon will serve a one-year term as the CSDA President.
"This is an exciting and challenging time for the CSDA," said Malon.
Malon said incredible strides have been made in increasing access to care, especially for children in our state. Connecticut has increased the number of participating dentists in the Dental Health Partnership from 150 to more than 1,300 and utilization has increased by over 57 percent.
Malon graduated from the Georgetown University School of Dentistry. She has served as President of both the Hartford and New Britain Dental Societies and has been a long time delegate to the CSDA and American Dental Association. Malon is a member of the CSDA Council on Legislation where she is active in advocating for increased access to care with public officials across Connecticut. She is a member of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Malon's extensive volunteer work includes participation in the Connecticut Mission of Mercy and Give Kids a Smile programs, which provide free dental services to individuals in need.
Also, elected to the CSDA Board of Governors were Dr. Mark Desrosiers of Pomfret as the President-Elect; Dr. Jeffrey Berkley of West Haven as the Vice President; and Dr. William Nash of Fairfield as Treasurer.
