Hill-Stead Museum's Hill Farm-to-Table benefit

FARMINGTON, CTCelebrate Connecticut Grown with Hill-Stead's fourth annual Dinner on the Hill Farm-to-Table Benefit Event at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16.
This popular event, showcasing local farmers and honoring Hill-Stead Museum's agricultural history, gathers 150 fellow art, food, and farmers' market enthusiasts to Hill-Stead's West Lawn at dusk, where two 72-foot tables are festively decorated with colorful harvest bouquets placed among an assortment of fresh breads. As cocktails and hors d'oeuvres are passed, guests can mingle to the funky music of Gigglejuice performed live from the museum's Mount Vernon-style veranda.
A savory, multi-course feast prepared by local chef Russell Pryzbek of Russell's Creative Global Cuisine is served al fresco as the sun sets. The menu's fresh, seasonal ingredients are provided by Connecticut farms, including many participants in Hill-Stead's Farmers Market. After a selection of gourmet hors d'oeuvres, this year's diners will be treated to 'Toad in the Hole' with Savory Multi-Grain French Toast and Poached Quail Egg, topped with roasted tomato hollandaise sauce; Chicken Torchon Raviolio garnished with grilled corn, cauliflower, zucchini and yellow squash pearls; Oven-Roasted Tomato Sorbetto;  Lettuce-Wrapped Sea Scallops with Fennel Coulis, stuffed with lemon pumpkin puree, topped with sea beans and garnished with oven-roasted grapes; all topped off with White Chocolate Pear, Bread Pudding, garnished with lemongrass Crème fraiche. Vegetarian options are offered for advance order. Courses are paired with fine wines by Jonathan Edwards Winery of North Stonington, including the Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet-Merlot-Petite Sirah blend from Hill-Stead's recently launched private-label collection.
Tickets to Dinner on the Hill are $150 per person (a portion of which is tax-deductible). Proceeds from the event benefit Hill-Stead's Farmers Market and its companion education and community programs. Seating is limited.
