Mental Health symposium at USJ


  
Mental Health Association of Connecticut is pleased to announce its second annual Fall Symposium, "Ideas for Innovation in Community Mental Health", on October 4, 2012, at the University of Saint Joseph, The Carol Autorino Center for the Arts and Humanities, Hoffman Auditorium in the Bruyette Athenaeum in West Hartford.
Plenary speakers:  Ms. A. Kathryn Power, M.Ed., Regional Administrator, The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Dr. David Shern, PhD, President and CEO of Mental Health America and Dr. Rafael Gallegos, Psyd, Director of Applied Behavioral Sciences, LLC.  Presenters will give new insights into what is being done throughout the U.S. to address the life span disparity for people with mental illness, what is known about mental health illness prevention and proactive techniques that emphasize positive behavioral supports for people with mental illness to care for themselves.
The program has been approved for continuing education credit hours by the National Association of Social Workers, CT and Continuing Medical Education Credits from Hartford Hospital. This event would not be possible without the support of Silver Hill Hospital and the Institute of Living, a division of Hartford Hospital.
