Duane Martin appointed new town engineer

WEST HARTFORD – Civil Engineer Duane Martin, 38, was appointed to the position of town engineer, replacing Dave Kraus who retired in December  after 38 years of service.

Martin joined the Town of West Hartford's Engineering Division in 2005 and over the past seven years, has managed traffic signal and drainage projects, designed major intersection improvements and total road reconstruction projects, as well as prepared plans, specifications and bid documents.

"I enjoy working with a team of talented engineers. It is very rewarding at the end of the year to tally up all the miles of road improvements and to see how these changes have made in the community even better than it was," said Martin.

Prior to joining the Town of West Hartford, Martin was a project engineer with the Town of Windsor and a Transportation Engineer with Fuss & O'Neill of Manchester, CT.

Martin has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He lives in Berlin, CT and has two sons and two step daughters.
