B-17 Memphis Belle and rare P-40 take flight over Hartford
"Memphis Belle" a restored WWII B-17 "flying fortress" bomber and rare Curtiss P-40 Warhawk will take to the skies over Hartford on their first national tour today.
Sixty five years ago these aircraft flew from bases far from home in an attempt to bring freedom to oppressed peoples.
The B-17 and P-40 mission for today is to educate the people of America about the courageous WWII veterans and to remember the brave aircrew members that never made it home.
