Munson’s Chocolates supports Connecticut’s breast cancer cause

Rocky Hill, CT – With the chance of developing invasive breast cancer at some time in a woman's life about 1 in 8, knowledge of early detection measures, treatment options and risk factors are essential. Taking the first step to heighten breast cancer awareness through the American Cancer Society's premiere breast cancer event, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.  This October Munson's Chocolates raised $1000 to support  Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

For the sixth year, Munson's Chocolates agreed to build breast cancer awareness into their retail and online marketing initiatives, according to Jim Florence, Vice President of Sales.  Munson's developed a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer product in honor of the Making Strides in Connecticut.

"Munson's Chocolates is honored to continue its support of the American Cancer Society "says Jim Florence.  "When it comes time to produce our pink hearts each year, we remind the customers in our stores and on our web site to shop until we stop breast cancer. Chocolate is a feel good product and in our opinion, there is no sweeter way to support research, detection and treatment. Every year we find that our customers seek these gifts out for the office, friends and even as a shower gift which is pretty spectacular."

"Corporate partners like Munson's have made breast cancer a priority by supporting Making Strides," according to Patrice Bedrosian, Director of Communications with the American Cancer Society.  "We commend such partners, as well as our flagship and media partners.

One in every two women newly diagnosed with breast cancer reaches out to the American Cancer Society for help and support. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer supports the American Cancer Society's unique mission to fight cancer on all fronts and save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or finding it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking research and by fighting back by encouraging lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. Over
time, the Society has invested more in breast cancer research than any other voluntary public health organization, spending more on breast cancer research and investing more than $388 million in breast cancer research grants since 1971. As a result, more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors will celebrate a birthday this year. For more information anytime, call toll free 1-800-227-2345 or visit www.cancer.org.
