Pizza box art raise funds for arts

Young participants in the Farmington Valley Arts Center's Summer Arts Adventures for ages 6 to 15 have been given a challenge: transform pizza boxes into works of art. Their reward? A free pizza lunch courtesy of California Pizza Kitchen on the Friday of each week-long camp session, plus the chance to win free pizza for a year
when the boxes are displayed August 22 at the restaurant in Farmington, Connecticut's Westfarms Mall.
California Pizza Kitchen is committed to supporting children in local communities through its CPK FUNdraisers program, and from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, the restaurant will contribute 20
percent of sales to the Farmington Valley Arts Center (FVAC), an Avon, Connecticut-based non-profit that provides a comprehensive assortment of arts-related programs and opportunities for all ages.
Diners will also have the chance to view the more than 40 pizza boxes created by students and to vote for a People's Choice Award Winner, who will have his or her box framed and displayed in the restaurant for a year and receive an MVP pass, good for 12 free kids' meals during the year.
There's still time for kids to enter the competition by painting pizza boxes, provided by California Pizza Kitchen, during upcoming Summer Arts Adventures sessions at the FVAC's Avon campus.
For more information or to register, visit www.artsfvac.org or call 860-678-1867.
